Joomla Web Development
I have been using the Joomla open source Content Management System to build websites since 2005. I am particularly proud of my own two commercial sites that I ran until selling them in 2011. The NZMac.com website featured in the book "Joomla! A User's Guide: Building a Successful Joomla! Powered Website" as an example of how to set up a site using Joomla, as well as being mentioned briefly in "Joomla! For Dummies".
NZMac.com
I established NZMac.com as a website dedicated to supporting the New Zealand Macintosh community. It included the latest New Zealand Macintosh news, discussion forums and reviews. NZ Mac events, businesses, user groups and Mac items for sale all featured on the site.
NZMac.com began life as an HTML-based site with a phpBB based forum. The first step into a CMS-driven site was by using Mambo and a component that allowed HTML files to be displayed within the CMS (an excellent way to transition from static HTML to CMS) and then content was gradually migrated into the database and all HTML files removed. The site then moved to Joomla 1.0, and at the end of 2008, made the migration to Joomla 1.5.
NZiPhone.com
NZiPhone.com was a sister site to NZMac.com and was launched in June 2008. NZiPhone.com was launched as a Joomla 1.5 website. A major aspect of the site was the reviews component that allows users to submit reviews of iPhone software and hardware.
